Phantom of the Opera Slot – The Game

NetEnt have reignited the Universal Monsters™ series this summer 2017 with the release of Phantom of the Opera slot. It follows in the footsteps of Dracula, Frankentstein, and the Invisible Man video slot games. This game is based on the 1920 silent movie of the same name, released by Universal Studios.

As ever from NetEnt, here we have a slot with big production values, featuring amazing photography, illustrations and animation as the background and reels come to life with each spin. Just check out the preview below for more. And of course, we have gameplay that is absolutely packed with Free Spins, Wilds, Stacked Wilds, Re-Spins, Pick Me Bonus rounds, and Multipliers of up to 800x your stake.

The game sits on the 5 reel and 40 payline format, which pays out both ways, and Phantom of the Opera RTP is 96.57%. The volatility rating is a low to medium. With a wide stake range – from 20p to £200 – this game sits nicely for most slots players and will drive regular small-ish wins, but can also land you a pretty tasty jackpot if the reels fall kindly for you.

Like all NetEnt games, this one is built to be played on any and every device and renders magnificently on mobile as well as desktop. You can also play for free to get a feel for it before you jump into play for real mode.

From July 24th 2017 Phantom of the Opera Slot will be available in most top UK online casinos. Why not play at one of our favourites, Casumo Casino. Or read on for a full game review, including explanations of all the key features.

Here’s a sneak preview to get you in the mood.

More About Phantom of the Opera Slot
Theme and Symbols

The Phantom of the Opera provides a rich backdrop for a slot game. The background to the reels is a theatre, and the symbols sit on a transparent frame. They are the classic card suits of Diamonds, Hearts, Spades and Clubs; and higher value symbols – a dagger, yellow roses, handheld mirrors, sapphire rings, masks, and the character of Christine from the film.

There is also the masked Phantom character (the ‘wild’), who is the highest paying symbol, giving 10x your stake for 5 in a row on a payline. The scatter symbol is the chandelier.

Customising Your Game Set-Up

You can choose to stake from as little as 20p up to £200 with each spin here, and if you want to jump straight into the top bet, just hit the max bet button. There is also an Autoplay feature for hands free play.

Phantom of the Opera slot is sound-tracked by operatic music. Depending on your taste it can be switched on or off.

As you would expect from a NetEnt slot, this one is packed with features and bonuses, all activated by hitting bonus symbols, stacked or otherwise.

Pick My Bonus – Trigger this by pitching the phantom symbol stacked on all positions on reel 1, AND Christine stacked in all positions on reel 5. The game brings a cash prize in stage 1 (where you must pick from 8 roses) and a multiplier in stage 2 (where you must pick from 3 mirrors). Your prize is the cash x the multiplier.

Masked Phantom Re-Spin Feature – To start this one you must land the phantom stacked on reel 1 again, AND the mask stacked on reel 5. Here, these symbols become Wilds and stick for a single re-spin.

Free Spins Feature – You must land three Chandelier scatter symbols on reels 1,3 and 5 simultaneously to set the Free Spins off.

This round has a very cool set up where a chandelier is connected to each reel by a rope. Additionally, the phantom symbol becomes wild at this point.

Free spins continue, but whenever a phantom symbol lands anywhere, one of the ropes will be cut, BUT the phantom becomes a stacked wild on that reel, leading to potential big wins for the rest of the free spins round.

Our Conclusion

It’s been a while since the last time NetEnt released a new game in the Universal Monsters™ Series, but it’s been worth the wait. The music, sights and gameplay of Phantom of the Opera slot come together to make this a really entertaining game, and whilst the wins may be small to start off with, once you hit the Free Spins feature, the chances for stacked wilds across multiple reels make for potentially big payouts.
